Meet The Teacher

Tanya At Piano

For as long as I can remember, I have been teaching piano lessons. From a young teenager teaching in my hometown, to teaching local students in the various neighborhoods I have lived, to teaching online during COVID, and finally settling here in Texas and teaching both remote and in-person lessons. It has been a wonderful journey of lessons, recitals, workshops, and competitions. I have enjoyed the relationships I have formed over the years and the joy that has come from being able to play a small musical part in the lives of my students. They have become like family and I am so proud of their successes in the piano!

A little about me - I am married to my wonderful husband, Michael, we have 5 children, ages 12 to 32. We currently live in Ennis, Texas and I proudly serve piano students in the greater Ellis County. I love traveling, decorating, reading, art, and unfortunately, food! I am very involved in my community and church and often volunteer my time and energy to help those around me to be the best they can be. I am particularly involved in empowering and serving women and their families. I not only love to play and teach piano, but it has been a great way to be a mom and still earn an income. Playing the piano has blessed me greatly and I want to give others that same gift. And for the first time in my career, I actually have more adult students than children! My oldest student, Linda, is 87 and loves her piano lessons!

I still remember myself as a young piano student and the highs and lows of that experience. After 40 years of teaching, I have developed a pretty good plan to produce a well-rounded piano player in a fun and encouraging way. No two students are the same. Each student has their strengths and challenges. My job is to figure out what they are and teach accordingly. I have had many students over the years win competitions, get accepted into prestigious music schools, play professionally, and even become piano teachers themselves. But my greatest accomplishment is seeing the joy on the face of a student when they master a difficult song. That is priceless! I would love to go on your personal musical journey with you and help you reach your musical goals. As I always say, anyone can learn to play the piano. I want to teach you how to play it well.
